Dennis Lim

Dennis Lim is a writer and film curator, and currently the Artistic Director of the New York Film Festival. From 2013 to 2022, he was Film at Lincoln Center’s year-round Director of Programming. He has also served as Film Editor of the Village Voice and Editorial Director of the Museum of the Moving Image, and was the programmer of the Flaherty Seminar in 2010. His writing has appeared in Artforum, Bookforum, Cinema Scope, the Criterion Collection, Film Comment, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, and The New Yorker, and he has taught at Harvard, NYU, Columbia, and Elias Querejeta Zine Eskola. He is the author of two books: Tale of Cinema (2022), a monograph on Hong Sangsoo, and The Man From Another Place (2015), a critical biography of David Lynch that has been translated into three languages. He has served as program advisor for the Berlin, Mumbai, and Thessaloniki film festivals, as well as a juror for Cannes Critics Week, Locarno, San Sebastian, Sundance, and other festivals. In 2018, he received the Chevalier of the Arts and Letters from the French Ministry of Culture.
